Price Action Forex Trading- Daily Charts
If you are fed up looking at 5 minute forex charts then why not take a minute to read about daily charts, and trading price action trading which is based on candlesticks rather than lagging indicators.
The fact is most new traders end up looking at very short timeframes on their charts, and then they add loads of indicators that either don’t work, are not set right, and they don’t understand. This leads them down a long and frustrating route to nowhere. But everything they need is right in front of them, its just they cannot see it yet. The candle stick chart contains all the vital information about the market, in other words, the price.
Price is by far the most important aspect of a chart and it tells us what price did and is doing, if we can learn to read price and see what is going on in the market you are beyond most people already.
The information held in the candlesticks is very powerful, they are a snap shot of the trading day or other timeframe. They show us four vital pieces of information, the open, the high, the low, and the close. Lets just say for example I told you that price opened and moved up 200 pips and made a high for the day, but to end up it closed 25 pips below the open. What does this tell you? It should be obvious that price moved up and got sold down hard, so hard in fact it closed below the open. This is telling us that price has rejected higher prices, and now this is an opportunity to go short. This candle is in fact called and pin bar, and its my number one money maker in the forex market.
Daily charts are the most reliable for price action, they are a log of each trading day and tell us the sentiment that is in the market.
By trading daily charts you can reduce your trading time to less than an hour per day, that’s right, a quick look at the close of play is all that is required to look for trades and then a couple of checks through the day to move stop losses etc.
Trading daily charts with price action has been very profitable for me, and it means I can take some time to decide about my trade. It is also a lot less stressful than scalping or any other intra day trading strategy.
Price action will take a little while to learn and it requires some discretion, it is not a system. But the ability to read true price action will put you far beyond most retail traders who really have not got a clue.
There is no need to pay for education, everything you need is out there for free, a good book is ‘Martin Pring on Price patterns’ this will get you started in price action.
