From Montréal to Québec city: Ride Québec’s open roads in autumn
Calling all bikers. We’ve found the ideal spot to unleash your inner easy rider – the breathtaking landscape of Eastern Québec.
With the wind in your hair, and the full throttle of a Harley Davidson between your legs Autumn is the ideal time for a motorcycle adventure of a lifetime. And the colourful scenery in this Canadian Province will not disappoint. At seven times the size of the UK, there’s a lot of untamed and undiscovered terrain for you to sink your wheels into.
Start your road trip in the über hip Montréal -the design concious mont take in the old and the new as you pass your reflection on sky scrapers and whizz by old-style masonry buildings. Park up at our favourite modern boutique hotel in Montréal, the St Paul Hotel, to discover the unique flair and joie de vivre of Montréal’s afterhours hotspots.
From Montréal, ride across the St Lawrence River to Parc du Bic: Located in the lower estuary of the St Lawrence River, expect to find secluded bays and coves in the shadow of the majestic mountains. Lap up the stunning panoramic river views from the banks. But if you really want to stretch your legs why not jump into a kayak to see the archipelagos that dot the river up close and personal. Just don’t miss out on the most glorious sunset we’ve seen this side of the world.
For some pure unadulterated mountain vistas be sure to pit stop at the Gaspésie National Park, before heading out to sea for some incredible whale watching.
Take a break from the open road, swap your wheels for a boat and head to Bonaventure Island passing the legendary Percé rock formation with its characteristic archway. Docking into Bonaventure, you’ll soon meet (or at least hear) the main inhabitants of this island. Cast your eyes on the thousands of gannets (yep, all 300,000 of them) that flock here for the warmer summer months. Truly a remarkable sight worthy of a National Geographic special.

Back on mainland, it’s only a short trip to Forillon National Park. This nature reserve marks the culmination of the monumental Appalachian Mountains, which stretches all the way down the East Coast of North America to Alabama offers an uninterrupted smooth stretch of Harley riding. Cling to the coastal road of the Gulf of St Lawrence to catch the ferry to Baie-Comeau. After re-fuelling at this quaint seaside town, it’s just you, the open road and some truly mind blowing scenery all the way to Tadoussac.
From here Québec City is just one last amazing ride away. We say explore the beautiful québec hang your biking leathers at the grand Auberge Sainte Antoine: a luxe boutique pad set in an old maritime warehouse, right in the historical old port. Discover the sights and sounds of Old Québec on foot. Picture cobbled streets, spiral towers and colonial architecture, and let’s not forget the endless amount of fine restaurants and hip bars. Of course, no trip to Québec is complete without a visit to its main shopping street Rue du Petit-Champlain or the newly restored and buzzing St Roch area.
