The Thule 911XT Passage 3 Bike Trunk Mount Carrier is a highly versatile trunk mount rack designed to carry up to 3 bikes securely. Installation
Installing the Thule 911XT is pretty quick and straightforward. It’s very adjustable, so you can adjust it to the shape of your car or SUV before installing it.
There are 6 adjustable straps which you need to attach to your trunk. There are two top straps, two side straps and two bottom straps. After putting the straps into place, you need to tighten up the straps to ensure the rack is securely attached. The installation process takes about 10 minutes in total.
Loading Bikes
Loading bikes on to the rack is very easy. After positioning the bike onto the two rubber cradles, you just need to strap the rubber strap to secure the frame to the rack. The cradle is very adjustable, so it can accommodate different types of bikes. As the cradles are made of rubber, this prevents your bike frame from being scratched.
When you aren’t using the rack, you can fold down the arms by pushing two buttons, making the rack more compact. This is very convenient because it means you don’t need to un-install the rack from your vehicle when you’re not hauling bikes.
On The Road
On the road is where a bike rack is truly put to the test. I’m pleased to say the Thule 911XT performs great. The bikes stay firm and secure in their position with no sway or movement, even whilst driving in extreme weather.
When installing the rack, ensure that you’ve tightened the straps well so they won’t loosen whilst you’re on the road.
The lower anti sway brackets are a great feature, these prevent your bikes knocking into each other and your vehicle to prevent any damage occurring.
